NHBC: Stepping out of my comfort zone

Hi everyone! My name is Jermaine Herrera, and I am a Grade 12 student at Immaculate Conception Academy. Today, I had the pleasure to attend the National High School Business Conference. Here are my thoughts highlighting what I learned about leadership, business, collaboration, and passion.

One of my main takeaways from the conference is that it is alright to make mistakes and take risks since we will definitely pick up learnings from being outside of our comfort zone. Moreover, there will also always be people, whether peers or professionals, who can guide and help us along our journey towards achieving our goals.

From the keynote and workshop speakers, I learned that reaching out and making connections are essential in the real world. Although it may seem intimidating, I was reminded that it is never too early to build a network and start educating oneself about financial literacy and the world of business.

What I enjoyed the most at this conference is being able to bond with my teammates despite the stressful and time-pressuring tasks. We all learned the value of communication and time management.

With all that I have learned today, I can apply this to my future goals by remembering to just keep going and creating opportunities for myself despite the obstacles that may come my way.
