Updated: Nov 28, 2020

As the world is changing, Illuminate and our National Partners are here to assist you throughout this change. It doesn’t have to be hard, and you don’t have to do it alone. Here are some words of encouragement from our friends at CPA Ontario:

Your perseverance will help you succeed and set you up for the best possible outcome. Never be afraid to reach out and ask for help, we are here to help guide and navigate through these uncertain times.

To keep you accompanied and excited about your learning journey with CPA Ontario, we have prepared has a list of enriching opportunities for students to get involved in!

At NHBC: CEO for a Day in 2019, students had the distinct pleasure to meet with CPA Ontario representatives, Jodi-Anne Buckley and Ariane Morency-Charbonneau, and sparked curiosity about the CPA designation. On October 24th and November 14th, 2020, Illuminate is delighted to announce that CPA Ontario will be joining us again, this time, at the National High School Leadership Conference: Decision Maker For A Day. Join us on October 24th or November 14th, for a day of exciting keynotes, interactive workshops and two case competitions where you can bring home up to $1000. CPA Ontario’s keynote this year will be the honourable Iliana Oris Valiente, who leads innovation strategy and blockchain technology at Accenture Canada. A globally-renowned professional services firm. CPA Ontario will be holding a Pitch workshop that will set you up for success in your CPA Ontario case competition during the day. Finally, the CPA Ontario case competition will be focused around marketing management. Be ready to bring your management and creativity skills to good use!

What’s the cool part of NHLC? This year, your parent can attend for free with their admission being included in your purchased ticket. They will be going through a series of similar workshops and competing in the Deloitte Case Competition on October 24th. If your parents are attending the November 14th session, they will participate in the CPA Ontario Care Competition instead. The fun part? Parents will have the chance to compete against the students. Get ready for some pretty fun challenge!

We have also written this post to get you better acquainted with CPA Ontario and get excited for CPA Ontario’s involvement in the upcoming conference.

Limitless Opportunities

Trained to see the big picture, CPAs are well recognized and respected professionals that are globally in demand.

High school students believe in a common misconception that being a CPA means that one must practice accounting for the rest of their career. This belief, however, could not be far from the truth. Although many CPAs are recognized as experienced accountants, many others pursue strategy-focused careers such as being a CEO, board member or a consulting manager etc. The skills gained through CPA Ontario's certification program allow individuals to become experts at navigating through complexities and strategic thinking, ensuring success in any industry and in organizations of any size.
