NHBC 2021

Hi everyone! My name is Reanna, and today I had the pleasure to attend the National High School Business Conference. Here are my thoughts highlighting what I learned about today.

To start off with, all the keynotes were really interesting! They had lots of engaging questions for us as well, which made it even more fun. I learned about the ten saboteurs, and the three core muscles. The first core muscle is the saboteurs inceptor muscle, which generates all negative emotions. There is also the sage muscle which allows us to deal with challenges while having calm, positive emotions. Finally, there is also the self-command muscle which relates to self-discipline and willpower. It was also really interesting to hear how other students overcome stress.

I also learned a lot about CPA Ontario. It was interesting to learn about the different courses you need to take in order to become a CPA. The case competition was really intriguing, and my group had a lot of fun working on it. It was really cool to see what the other groups came up with as well! There were lots of very well thought out solutions.

Finally, I will be telling you about the Illuminate Challenge. I had so much fun working on this with my group. It was really exciting making it into the final three!

Overall, I had a great experience. If you have never done something like this, I recommend trying it out! You really get to put your teamwork and problem solving skills to the test. You will also have a fun time being creative with the Illuminate Challenge.
