Hi everyone! My name is Amee Bhavsar and I am a Grade 10 student at SATEC @ W. A. Porter. Today, I had the pleasure to attend Illuminate x Durham’s regional conference. I believe all the workshops were very empowering and informative.
After hearing the perspectives of successful women in STEM like Mackenzie Clark, I was able to get an insight into how, as a woman myself, I could possibly succeed as well. Additionally, I was exposed to the concept of Imposter Syndrome. I wasn’t familiar with this term prior to this event, and I was very thankful I learnt it! I never knew there was a term out there to describe how I have been feeling all my life. So, now I know that feeling not as competent as the other is a feeling that is quite normal. Furthermore, there are also ways to deal with it, for instance power poses! If there is one thing I will forever remember about todays event, it would be power poses! I cannot wait to try them out! We also got the opportunity to learn about how our good morals and positive attitudes could also greatly help us reach the goals we want to.
Overall, I would say I left this conference feeling very enlightened! Thank you! :)
