Hi everyone! My name is Tara, and I am a third year student at Western University. Today, I had the pleasure to attend Illuminate x Hiren’s resiliency workshop. Here are my thoughts highlighting what I learned about mental resilience. I really enjoyed the opportunity to listen to Hiren, and his advice and thoughts on mental resilience.
His presentation was incredibly engaging, and encouraged me to stop and think about what I am feeling. He went through multiple exercises, asking us how we felt, and how we dealt with stress. I think seeing how my fellow interns were feeling validated my own feelings, as well as allowing us to learn from both Hiren, and each other.
My fellow student intern asked Hiren for advice when it comes to asking for help. I had thought that I was alone when it came to struggling to ask for help. I found his discussion about learning when and how to ask for help very valuable and applicable, as someone who struggles with reaching out for help. He discussed different methods of asking for help, and even differentiated between asking for advice and asking for someone to listen.
I think his presentation is something that everyone should hear, regardless of where they are in their career or life. As a student and intern, the knowledge he passed on to us will be used in many aspects of my life.
