How to Land Your Dream Job

This weekend, I got the privilege to attend Illuminate’s Think Tank with Mash Chowdhury, a cybersecurity consultant at Deloitte, as part of Illuminate’s Associate National Lead program. I was extremely inspired and would like to take the opportunity to share what I learned with my Linkedin platform.

Mash introduced us to a few rules to follow to land your dream career. The first is the first impression. The first impression of you shows your employer why you are a unique candidate and why you stand out from the rest of the pool. To do this, Mash provided advice and tips on leveraging our LinkedIn accounts to look more professional. He encouraged us to advertise our accomplishments achievements throughout the years as this creates a strong profile.

The next rule is to advocate for yourself. You won't always have the support of your parents and mentors by your side. Therefore, it is important for you to be able to make your own choices and stand up for yourself. Additionally, you should build your own connections and start networking to build genuine and strong relationships.

The third rule is to personalize each individual resume for each job. Don't send the same resume to every job you apply for! By doing this, you can customize experiences that the company/job is looking for specifically, which will make you more appealing as an applicant.

Finally, be committed to what you do. Hard work and dedication come with success. If you want to achieve something, take the action to do it and always strive to reach your Plan A.
