Leadership Development

Hi everyone! My name is Bill, and I am a grade 11 student currently attending Markville Secondary School. I am an avid learner who loves to search for opportunities to develop my speaking skills. Consequently, on April 10, 2021, I attended the Illuminate x Markham conference. Here are the key takeaways:

This was what stuck with me the most: "What if you put full effort into one goal for even just a week. You could get so far" ~ Mash Chowdhury

Time is a gift. It moves linearly forward, and no matter what you do, you cannot change your past. However, you can make changes to improve your future.

This conference made me think about the big picture. What I should do in the present time to shape my ideal life in the future. Setting goals is incredibly important, even they are just one step at a time. And, when met in the face of failure, your proactiveness and perseverance are what separates the casual from the successful. Where the path you decided will affect how your life goes, where it is really important to have a network of your plan, and the determination to head that path.

I also learned about the importance of social entrepreneurship when making a business. Making a change is valuable to society.
