Illuminate x Markham: The Future of Social Entrepreneurship

Hi everyone! My name is Chelsea Su and I am a Grade 9 student at Alexander Mackenzie High School. Today, I had the pleasure to attend Illuminate x Markham’s regional conference. Here are my thoughts highlighting what I learned about consulting, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship and much more!

From the first speaker, Christal Wang who is the co-founder of shimmer; I learned quite a lot. My key takeaway is that your values are what truly guide you in life. It will impact the paths one takes and how an individual is as a person. Moreover, it is totally ok if you have to journey through multiple obstacles to get to a place you want to be.

Looking back onto the information provided by the second speaker, Mash Chowdhury, there were significant facts and experiences about consulting and cybersecurity. He discussed topics such as reactive and proactive, what is cybersecurity, why it's crucial to understand the needs of your clients and so on.

These speakers along with Alina Huang and Joshua Liu are all talented. From what they have said about their experiences, the most important thing I've gained is that connections are crucial. Always reach out to new people and get ahead. I highly enjoyed how the speakers were highly informative while having their presentation be engaging. For the future, I hope to reference back to the points that were touched upon.
